CV - Henrik
Svensmark
Henrik
Svensmark (Lead Proposer), since 2004 director of the newly formed Centre
for Sun-Climate Research under the Danish National Space Center (DNSC).
Head of sun-climate group at DSRI (1998 - 2004). Research position at
the Danish Meteorological Institute, (1993-1998). Between (1988-1993)
Post doctoral positions in physics at University California Berkeley,
Nordic Institute of Theoretical Physics, and the Niels Bohr Institute.
He has
been working and contributed to various fields in physics: Climate physics,
atmospheric physics/chemistry and oceanography, superconductivity, and
quantum fluctuations in non-linear systems. Has written more than 40
papers and given more than 40 invited talks at international meetings,
conferences, and workshops, and more than 40 talks at research institutes,
schools, and public meetings. Scientific career includes original work
on sun-climate connection, in particular the correlation between cosmic
rays and Earth's cloud cover.
Received
in 1997 the Knud Højgaard Anniversary Research Prize and in 2001
the Energy-E2 Research Price. Member of the scientific board for the
Danish Climate Centre, DMI (1997-1998).
